Our names are Craig Newkirk and Berthann Jones; we are the founders/owners of The Money Teachers and are a married couple with a teenage son/step-son, two dogs, two cats, and a burning passion to spread personal financial knowledge. We are proud to be the only husband and wife couple in Connecticut who are Certified Financial Planners™ operating an Independent Financial Literacy organization.

As combined 55-year grizzled veterans of the financial services industry (40+ years combined as Certified Financial Planners™), we've learned how to do things and how not to do things. Now we share this knowledge with others. 

We are the featured instructors for the budget class for the annual CT Youth Financial Education Conference sponsored by the Office of the State Treasurer of Connecticut.

Berthann

Berthann is the proud daughter of Fred and Ruth Jones and stepmother of Harry. She is the former president of the Financial Planning Association of New Haven and was one of six CT non-CPA citizens invited by the Governor to sit on the CT State Board of Accountancy.

Berthann has appeared on TV, been featured in the New Haven Register, and has presented at many forums and locations throughout Connecticut.

Craig 

Craig is the father of his hero, an amazing teenage son Harry, and is the honored husband of Berthann.

Craig spent too many years on Wall Street. He has had multiple TV appearances, been featured in Financial Planning Magazine, and has delivered over 1,000 presentations and classes to over 25,000 individuals and financial advisors throughout the country.

Craig is a former Fairfield University adjunct professor where he taught the investment portion of the Certified Financial Planner program. He is the founder of the Connecticut Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy.
